ABOUT

ABOUT ARA STATION

Ara Station is a unique guest house nestled in native bush on the edge of the Lake Wainamu sand dunes and overlooking Bethells Beach/Te Henga.  It is conveniently placed on the famous Hillary Trail and is situated on an Ara (a traditonal Maori pathway). The house is is built in the style of an old New Zealand railway station, using ecological timber. The  spacious rooms all have spectacular views and each have their own character. Here you'll fall asleep to the sound of the waves,  the plaintive call of the ruru/morepork  (a small native owl) and wake to  the chorus of many native birds.

Ara Station is only 35 minutes from the CBD of Auckland and 45 minutes from the Airport- a short trip to another world.

Bethells/ Te Henga is famous as an international film location, and for its dramatic scenery and vast array of outdoor activities. Enjoy the tramping tracks of the rugged West Coast of the Waitakeres, the surf beaches of Bethells and O'Neills, lakes, streams, giant sand dunes and bird life, all within a short walking distance from Ara Station.

Ara Station is great for outdoor adventurers,  relaxation, overseas visitors, families, film crews, wedding guests, small business workshops and as an artist’s retreat (pet friendly by negotiation).

This West Auckland acommodation offers two options: rent as a whole house for special occasions...or stay in one of our  character Bed and Breakfast guest rooms  in the downstairs apartment.  Available for short or longer stays.

Ara Station is a wonderful place to escape and unwind from the hustle and bustle of city life at any time of the year. With spectacular views from every room, and plenty to explore in this beautiful area.  This oasis on Aucklands doorstep sits only a booking away...
